Soul Magick

Soul Magick is a game I lovingly (and painstakingly) made on my own. It’s a little dungeon crawler that’s meant to be somewhat easy, I was sick of being on the receiving end of bullet hell bullets, so in Soul Magick, one hand gets to maneuver with WASD while the other gets to mash IJKL to smithereens to send out bullets. The enemies you kill increase your own elemental magic. This whole game was pretty much a power fantasy for me.

More elemental magic means more health, which you can restore at certain shiny locations. I’m sorry I didn’t get a screenshot with the screen riddled with bullets! It’s much harder to take a screenshot when both your hands are busy.

The boss battle is my favorite thing I implemented into the game. The way the big flame floats ominously, the epic copyright-free music, taking down all his shields is glorious. Though the game is still buggy in certain places, I’m happy with how it ended up.

This game couldn’t exist without the wonderful folks who put up free-use materials for students. The music and sound effects were made by CATHRAN and MULULU respectively on the Unity Asset Store. The dungeon tileset and skeleton sprite was made by Pixel_Poem on itch.io.
